One of the most influential blues recordings of all time. Originally released in 1961, King Of The Delta Blues Singers compiles the work of legendary guitarist Robert Johnson, most of which were previously only available as mono 10 78 s from the 1930 s on the Vocalion label. Most of this work came from just two sessions recorded in 1936 and 1937, lending to the myth that Johnson sold his soul to the devil to gain incredible skill and success. In only 27 years on earth his virtuosity carried over to multiple generations of fellow axeman such as Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, B.B. King, and Keith Richards all citing his playing as a main influence in their upbringing. Sixteen tracks in all and an essential listen for anyone getting into the Blues music. Volume 2 also available.
