Love him or hate him, you gotta admit Quentin Tarantino puts together a mean soundtrack. I haven t even seen Grindhouse yet, but this thing has me hooked with rare 60s and 70s gems. As expected, there s a generous helping of dialogue and some recycled Ennio Morricone score here, but there s plenty for the beat-minded too, the best being Smith s soulful Baby It s You and Pacific Gas & Electric s take on the tale of Staggolee. The inclusion of Jeepster has us scrambling to find our copies of Electric Warrior and wondering if there s any T.Rex vinyl still in print – glammo jammo! Also check the Coasters Down In Mexico, the riotous drums of Eddie Beram s Riot In Thunder Alley and Hold Tight by the amazingly named Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich. Great pic sleeve and full-color movie stills put this over the top. Recommended.
