Romperayo is the new band formed by drummer Pedro Ojeda (of Los Piranas, Frente Cumbiero, and Ondatropica) that has come out of Bogota s burgeoning live music scene. For their very first vinyl release, the band explores the rich and diverse musical tradition of their native Colombia with the deeply fused rhythms and textures of El Busetero Buscapleitos. The track pays tribute to the sounds of West Africa, Trinidad, and Haiti, married with the popular Colombian rhythms of the Caribbean coast like Cumbia & Chandé. On the flip, Que Viva La Vida y Que Muera La Muerte showcases the sounds of Colombia s Pacific coast with afro-colombian percussion played by Ojeda himself. Comes in printed paper sleeve.
